Meet the Teacher

Jon

Business and Economics are the two best subjects in the world; without them, how we can properly start to understand the complex world in which we live, I just don’t know! Whilst my hair as well as my two older children, have fled the nest, enthusiasm for my subjects remains.


Our lives are shaped by the organisations where we study, businesses we work in and buy our food and phones from, and the way the local, national and international economies work in shaping the decisions households and firms make. How will we be affected by tax changes the new UK government introduces? Will the outcome of the forthcoming US Presidential Election affect the UK economy? Understanding our world enables us to see where we fit in and how we can influence change. I bring a wealth of experience and real-world examples to the teaching of Business and Economics which helps students to understand often complex concepts and theories and use them in exam essays.


Outside work, I spend time with my wife and two youngest children and as much time as possible watching my favourite sports of rugby, football, cricket, netball and basketball. I played rugby, football and cricket (back in the day!), and coached rugby and cricket for about 15yrs. While there isn’t much time for reading, I do love detective-type thrillers (David Baldacci being my fave author) and sports biographies.
